The Indomitable Borderlands of The Grendels is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Warleader Yarooo with an even hand, and renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 20.518 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The enormous, corrupt, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Commerce, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Hackleburg. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 20%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Automobile Manufacturing, and Information Technology industries.

Morning coffees are no longer the same since the disappearance of newspapers, the government has the power to seize property at will, an increasing percentage of the population's youth have homosexual parents, and the controversial show 'Who Wants to be an Immigrant?' has become wildly popular. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling. The Grendels's national animal is the the Dire Bear, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Golden Bond.
